Despite its 11400 ft. location, Chilcabamba Eco lodge lies in a gentle valley encircled by much higher and mighty volcanoes. The Andean highlands environment offers a pristine --and appropriate- frame for the rustic style of the lodge. Built from local and recycled materials, Chilcabamba is at the same time cozy, simple and charming.

Chilcabamba is an attractive destination in itself for family trips, highland hiking, bird-watching, acclimatization outings, picturesque mountain biking and horseback riding with local guides from the nearby community of Pedregal. Yet, at the same time, Chilcabamba is the perfect base to visit the world famous Cotopaxi National Park whose entrance is only 5 minutes away, as well as to attempt both easy and demanding climbs of Pasochoa, Rumiñahui, Sincholagua and Cotopaxi.

Eingebettet zwischen Vulkanen, auf einer Höhe von 3487m über dem Meeresspiegel, ist Chilcabamba ein sehr privilegiert gelegener Ort. Errichtet wurde die Lodge aus einheimischen Materialien des Páramos und recycelten Baustoffen. Ihr rustikaler Charme verleiht ihr ein uriges Ambiente und mit ihrem Design fügt sie sich wunderbar in die ureigene Landschaft des Páramos ein.

Ihre einzigartige Lage erlaubt Bergliebhabern traumhafte Spaziergänge, Wanderungen und Aufstiege auf die Vulkane Pasochoa 4200m., Rumiñahui 4712m., Sincholagua4893m. und den majestätischen Cotopaxi 5897m.

Chilcabamba ist prädestiniert als Ausflugziel für Familien; für kleine und große Wanderungen zum Kennenlernen des einzigartigen Ökosystems „Páramo“; für Wanderungen zur Akklimatisation an die Höhe; Besuche des Nationalparks Cotopaxi; sowie unvergessliche Reitausflüge mit lokalen Führern und Pferden der Nachbargemeinde. Darüber hinaus gibt es phantastische Möglichkeiten zum Mountainbiking.

Zur Erholung bieten wir 16 sehr bequeme und kuschelige Betten in Cabañas mit Doppelzimmern. Das knisternde Feuer in den Schwedenöfen garantiert Ihnen einen warmen Aufenthalt und für Hunger und Durst ist ebenfalls gesorgt. Wir haben ein uriges Restaurant mit Platz für 28 Personen, wo unsere Gäste mit einer ausgezeichneten Küche versorgt werden – und das Ganze neben einem behaglich prasselnden Kaminfeuer und einer phantastischen Aussicht auf Berge und Vulkane.
